Destruction and recycling
We’ll take care of your security and environmental
obligations
Disposing of records that have reached the end of their life
span is an integral part of our service offering. We care about
protecting the world we live in and do everything we can to reduce
the impact our business has on the environment.
Secure shredding
Our shredding process meets the level 3 security requirements
stated within the industry standard DIN 32757-1. We use cross-cut
shredding blades that provide particles of waste which are 6x50mm
in size. This provides a greater level of security and less volume
of waste when compared to strip-cut shredders.
Our confidential paper shredding and recycling system handles
both internal and external paper.
Internal material includes boxes or files that are already
within storage at Filebase, but have reached the end of their
lifespan. When requested by a client, these boxes or files are
confidentially destroyed on our premises.
External material is collected from a client’s premises when
requested. Filebase provides specialist lockable bins or sacks with
tamper-proof seals for customer use. The waste is then transported
to our secure and anonymous destruction and recycling facility by a
member of the Filebase team.
Recycling and the environment
Caring for the environment is important to us – and we actively
encourage our clients to do the same.
We are an Environment Agency registered handler of confidential
waste and can recycle most paper types, including coloured paper,
computer paper, fax paper and glossy paper. The process allows for
both staples and paper clips. Once shredded, we take our paper to a
local mill for recycling.
Whilst we do not encourage clients to include plastics in their
records for destruction, some plastic materials such as clear
plastic pockets are difficult to avoid. In these cases, plastics
will be removed and forwarded to a specialist organisation for
recycling.
